Pane Vino Trattoria & Wine Bar opened in Summer 2009 with the vision of Owner/Sommelier Louis Karkabasis.
Pane Vino, which translates from Italian as Bread & Wine along with Chef Eelkje Visser, bring an interpretation and presentation of Modern Italian cuisine, or what we call Cal-ital cuisine. The vision of Pane Vino is to source fresh locally grown ingredients from our Region.
After residing in the Bay Area of California, Louis was introduced to The 100 mile diet, started by visionary Chef Alice Waters of Chez Panisse fame in Berkeley California. This mantra has been integrated to fully source all of our seasonal ingredients.
Working closely with Local farmers who produce our meat, poultry, fish, vegetables & dairy products for our Trattoria & Wine Bar has had an unbelievable effect on the local market & economy of the Kawartha Lakes.
It brings us closer and back to what Louis calls REAL LOCAL FOOD!
